There was a lovely light

In loving memory of my friend Claire, on what would have been her 74th birthday. Hydrangeas were her favourite. 🤍

There was a lovely light

We met through work,
cultivated a friendship
that lasted over 30 years.

It was rich with laughter,
joy, a touch of mischief,
and of course, her lovely light.

She did not let cancer
steal any of it away.

We continued to celebrate,
share laughter and lattes,
creating fun-filled memories.

Our time was rich with laughter
joy, a touch of mischief,
and of course, her lovely light.

Light

Written in honour of International Women’s Day 2025.

Light

She was a seeker of light —
in sunsets, sunrises,
dappled light through trees,
reflections off water or snow.

She loved the magic it created —
ever changing colours,
different perspectives,
diamonds sparkling across a surface.

She was beginning to realize
she too was a light,
with gifts and talents
she’d dimmed for too long.

It was time…
to step out of the shadows,
confidently shine,
and show others they can too.

Drift Away

A favourite photo and fleeting moment captured in 2016. No edits. Pure nature. It was cold and windy, but oh the light was magical! So I tucked myself into the trees to keep warm and watched the sunlight dance, transforming the landscape from white to beautiful, pale hues of pink and purple.

I am so fortunate to have the privilege of capturing light and extraordinary ‘glimmers’ like this from my corner of the Canadian prairies. ✨️

Drift Away

For a few fleeting moments
sunlight gently danced
across a snow-covered field.

Randomly brushing colour
on glistening snowdrifts,
sculpted by harsh winter winds.

Turning the ordinary
into extraordinary art —
sparkling, enchanting, magical.

Storms of Life

Storms of Life

The storms of life —
no one is immune,
we all must weather them.

Their power catches us off guard —
harsh, brutal, damaging,
yet beautiful, awe-inspiring.

We may come out stronger,
we may feel broken,
always altered, forever changed.

What gets us through is knowing
there is light, always light…
it finds us, leads the way.

We carry on as best we can,
finding hope, healing,
new paths, new beginnings.
