A poem inspired by a story of a magical summer when a girl and her friend were seventeen. They would ride their horses bareback, stretch out on their backs, eyes closed and let the horses led the way. This piece reflects the desire to, “be that fearless, carefree, confident girl again, who closes her eyes, and trusts that she will be safe.” It feels like this is the perfect time of year to share it.

It’s time…
She closed her eyes,
leaned back with a sigh,
arms wide open,
felt a breeze wash over her,
heard whispers in the wind.
It’s time…
to release
all you’ve been carrying
to open your heart,
revisit your dreams
to trust
your inner knowing
to lean in
with joy and wonder
to follow your path,
with presence and ease
to take detours
which call out to you
to embrace
your soulful evolution
to rise fearlessly,
and to love deeply
who you’ve been,
who you are now,
and who you are becoming.
She opened her eyes,
breathed deeply,
slowly rose up,
hands on heart,
listening, knowing, ready.
