Sunflowers symbolize adoration, loyalty and longevity. Last year our extended fall gave the volunteer sunflowers in my garden a chance to shine. They attracted many red admiral butterflies, usually long gone by October. At times a single sunflower would be covered with five or six butterflies. I only managed to capture one in this photo, but if you look closely you can also see a honey bee and a ladybug. Apparently I was not the only one appreciating the late burst of summer.
